Frequently asked questions
How does MPH Homes build homes that are better value for money than other homes in the same price ranges?
Our home prices represent excellent value. To date, all homes built by MPH Homes have achieved a property valuation that is equal or greater than the total cost of building and land value combined.
This is consistently achieved by combining over 170 years of building experience with a range of quality house designs and features. This enables us to build the highest standard of home possible at budgets that suit first and second home buyers through to prestige and luxury home owners.
Our individual designs make our homes unique and stand out in the housing market, often leading to higher house values and resale prices and attracting higher occupancy rates and rental returns in the property rental market. The flexibility that we give our clients to mix and match their own selection of house design, fittings and equipment meets their lifestyle needs and creates a unique home that is favoured in property and rental markets.
How does MPH Homes continually deliver high quality homes on time and on budget?
Our experience and high standard of workmanship mean that we do things properly the first time. This eliminates unnecessary rework that would otherwise cost time and money.
Our efficiency is also underpinned by streamlined building systems through which our building supervisors follow detailed management procedures and use a state-of-the-art database system to monitor building projects and preorder materials.
With MPH Homes, your home is always built within budget - we quote one price, with all service fees and costs included and no hidden costs. This is backed up by our high ethical standards when we work with our clients, suppliers, contractors and staff.
How does MPH Homes consistently build homes at such a high quality standard?
Our homes consistently meet high quality standards due to four factors:
Design - our unique designs and in-house drafting service are a result of many years of building and design experience; our designs and fittings have been selected to enhance lifestyle, maximise functionality and minimise maintenance and incidental damage.
Expertise – we have the right skills, ethics, building systems and service based on 170 years of combined residential and commercial building experience. This is supported by ongoing training and mentoring of all team members and good relationships with our suppliers and sub-contractors.
Materials – we use only quality fittings and equipment and exclusively use traditional slabs and footings as opposed to waffle pods (which have a high failure rate). We exclusively use copper piping as opposed to plastic piping (which is often eaten by rats).
Building systems - our building supervisors follow consistent and defined management procedures for each building project. Every building project is managed using state-of-the-art database systems which incorporate project monitoring and materials preordering systems.

What are the common mistakes and pitfalls that you can make when building a home and how do you avoid them?
- An inexperienced builder
Ultimately you end up paying more for a house that gives you much less in terms of features, design, lifestyle, house value and resale price. Inexperienced builders often cost more because they are learning on the job – taking shortcuts and making frequent mistakes.
Some mistakes are identified and fixed before the builder finishes building the house and the resulting rework can be costly in time or money to the owner. Some mistakes take years to find, long after the builder has completed the contract and banked the final payment.
MPH Homes are a professional and experienced team with over 170 years of combined residential and commercial building experience.
- Extra charges and add-on costs
Always make certain that you have a contract that lists all charges and costs relating to design, council approvals, soil testing, engineering, construction, interior decorating, painting, landscaping, fittings, equipment and any other aspects that you want included in your home.
With MPH Homes, we quote one price, with all service fees and costs included and no hidden costs.
- Lack of control and information
Always make sure that you are in control of your building project and are kept informed by your builder about project progress and the achievement of important milestones. Many potential problems and misunderstandings are discovered early when the client and the builder are in regular communication and have a common understanding about their commitments and responsibilities throughout the project.
MPH Homes will keep you informed about your building project through your nominated building supervisor and through the MPH Homes website, using your Client Login facility.
- Average, standard or boring house designs
Avoid these designs – they will give you a home that has a lower value in the property market and less attractive to tenants. Good design doesn’t cost any more than bad design but it does give many benefits in terms of lifestyle, functionality, resale price and property value.
MPH Homes are individually designed for a unique architectural look that captures your vision for your dream home.
